Qualification Overview

Qualification overview and academic direction.

The ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Computing and Artificial Intelligence is a 120-credit, Ofqual-regulated qualification that builds on the broad computing foundation of the Level 4 Diploma and opens up wider themes in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis. If you want to move beyond general IT knowledge and start building real capability in AI and data, this course gets you there. You will develop practical understanding across the areas employers actually hire for, including systems analysis, programming, databases, probability and statistics, data preparation, visualisation, AI fundamentals, and the legal and ethical context in which all of this sits. It builds directly on Level 3 knowledge and shifts you into how computing and AI work in real environments. You are not just learning theory, you are developing skills you can apply straight away or take into a Level 5 or degree-level pathway. What You'll Gain By the end of the course, you'll be able to: -Design, analyse and develop IT systems with a structured problem-solving approach -Write and understand code for real-world applications -Work with databases and prepare data to a quality standard fit for analysis -Apply probability and statistics to data science and AI problems -Build clear, decision-useful data visualisations -Explain core AI concepts and where they apply in practice -Apply the legal, regulatory and ethical framework that governs computing and AI This is where you move from being interested in AI and data to actually being capable in both.
