The ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Computing is a 120-credit, Ofqual-regulated qualification designed to give you a solid foundation in modern computing. If you’re looking to move beyond basic IT knowledge and start building real technical capability, this course takes you there. You’ll develop practical understanding across the core areas that employers actually care about, including systems analysis, programming, databases, networking, security, and the legal side of computing. It builds directly on Level 3 knowledge, but more importantly, it shifts you into how computing works in real environments. You’re not just learning theory, you’re developing skills you can use straight away or build on further. What You’ll Gain By the end of the course, you’ll be able to: -Understand how systems are designed, developed and managed -Write and understand code for real-world applications -Work with databases and handle data effectively -Apply knowledge of networks and cyber security in practical contexts -Understand the legal and regulatory framework around computing This is where you move from “interested in tech” to actually being capable in it.
